Raku Pottery Workshop on Saturday 30th June, 2018 10.30 – 2.30pm
We will provide 3 pieces ready for you to glaze & fire. This is a visually exciting and very fast way of firing pottery with beautiful and surprising results. Raku involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat & placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere, which affects the colours in the glazes. The drastic thermal shock can result in the desirable crazing of the surface. Bring shoes that cover your toes, cotton clothes, tie back long hair and bring a packed lunch.
Limited to 6 places.
