Make a ceramic Green Man with Amina Sly-Khan on Saturday 20th April, 2024 2pm - 4.30pm
The Green Man, also known as a foliate head, is a motif in architecture and art, of a face made of, or completely surrounded by, foliage, which normally spreads out from the centre of the face. Apart from a purely decorative function, the Green Man is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every Spring. ( Wikipedia)
This is a wonderful and unusual way to create a unique piece of pottery.
Hand build the green man using slab work. Gradually build the face using leaf like shapes, vines etc. to give the green man plenty of character.
The finished piece can be used as a beautiful and unusual piece of garden art
The clay we use is soft & pliable, and, when it is fired it is a stunning white.
The size of the green man is approximately 30cm in diameter.
White clay, 2 firings, green glaze, collection from the shop 4-6 weeks after the workshop, maximum number is 6 so there is plenty of personal space to work & 1-1 tuition & guidance, tea/ coffee.
