About Pris McGirr
Priscilla McGirr has had a long and varied career as a self employed craftswoman. She was a full time potter for 30 years from the 70's onwards with shop /workshop premises in Walthamstow, Alford, and finally Brixton. Subsequently she bought a lease on a stall at Covent Garden Craft Market, which she eventually changed to hand made confectionery as the pottery was becoming too physically hard to produce in the amounts needed. On returning to Alford in 2004 she sold her confectionery business and took up the wonderful art of Lampworking (glass bead making). Although she still produces small amounts of pots and beads for sale her time is mostly spent teaching both subjects at Alford Craft Market Centre where she thoroughly enjoys passing her skills on to groups of similarly enthusiastic people!
